THE ROLE
You will join a specialist team supporting eCommerce merchants from initial integration through to go live and ongoing technical enablement. The team combines strong payments domain knowledge with a practical, customer focused approach to solving complex integration challenges.
 
As a Merchant Integration Specialist, you will act as a trusted technical advisor to merchants and internal stakeholders, translating complex integration requirements into clear, actionable guidance. You will work across merchant development teams, business stakeholders, and senior decision-makers to ensure integrations are smooth, compliant, and set up for success.
 
This role suits someone who is customer facing, commercially aware, and technically strong, with the ability to bridge business needs and technical delivery in a fast paced environment.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Lead merchant integration engagements end-to-end: from understanding to their technical landscape, gather integration requirements, recommend optimal solutions, and production go-live
  • Support pre-sales and solution design activities by providing technical expertise during merchant acquisition and scoping
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for merchants during migration, onboarding, providing expert guidance on API integration, payment flows, and platform configuration
  • Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance the merchant integration experience and reduce time-to-live
  • Assist merchants with complex integration questions including custom payment flows, tokenisation, 3D Secure, webhook configuration, and back-office setup
  • Guide merchants through the go-live process, including sandbox testing, certification, and the transition to live transactions
  • Author and maintain self-service technical documentation, integration guides, developer resources, and FAQs to scale onboarding operations
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge to uplift the broader TechCare capability
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and L1/L2 Support teams to escalate platform issues, provide merchant feedback, and drive continuous improvement
 
YOU WILL HAVE
 
  • Experience in a customer facing technical role within payments, eCommerce, fintech, or financial services
  • Demonstrated experience leading merchant or client integrations with payment gateways, orchestration platforms, or eCommerce platforms
  • Sound understanding of the payment’s ecosystem: acquiring, issuing, card not present transactions, payment orchestration
 
TECHNICAL SKILLS
 
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and modern integration patterns
  • Detailed knowledge of payment processing: 3D Secure (3DS2), hosted payment pages, server-to-server integrations, tokenisation, and PCI DSS compliance (desirable)
  • Proficiency with API testing and debugging tools (e.g., Postman, Bruno, cURL, browser developer tools)
  • Combined software development experience with SQL, HTML, JavaScript, Java, JSON
  • Familiarity with eCommerce platforms and plugins (e.g., WooCommerce, Magento, Salesforce Commerce, CommerceTools)
  • Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, NetSuite) and how they integrate with payment platforms
  • Knowledge of payment platforms such as Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, Worldpay, or similar orchestration/gateway providers (highly regarded)
  • Strong risk awareness with the ability to identify, discuss, and act on current and emerging risks in a regulated environment
