Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Test Lead to manage and drive the end-to-end testing lifecycle within an Agile delivery framework. This role is responsible for defining testing strategy, coordinating execution, and ensuring high-quality releases aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will lead testing activities across all phases, proactively manage risks and blockers, and provide clear reporting to stakeholders, ensuring testing is delivered on time and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities Test Strategy & PlanningDevelop and implement comprehensive test strategies and quality assurance frameworksDefine testing scope, objectives, resources, and timelinesProduce detailed test plans aligned to project and business goalsEstablish and track quality metrics and KPIsTest Execution & DeliveryOversee end-to-end test execution across all phases of deliveryEnsure teams have the necessary tools, environments, and test dataCoordinate testing activities within an Agile (Scrum/SAFe) frameworkEnsure alignment between testing and development teamsStakeholder Management & ReportingProvide regular updates on testing progress, risks, and outcomesCommunicate effectively with stakeholders at all levelsDeliver clear, actionable reports to support release decisionsRisk & Issue ManagementProactively identify risks and issues impacting delivery timelinesRemove impediments and escalate where requiredManage defect lifecycle, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolutionContinuous ImprovementDrive improvements in testing processes, tools, and methodologiesPromote best practices and quality-first mindset across teamsRequired Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a Test Lead within complex delivery environmentsStrong experience working in the UK public sector and/or regulated environmentsSolid understanding of Agile principles, frameworks, and practicesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsExperience in:Test strategy developmentDefect management and tracking toolsTest reporting and quality metricsDemonstrated ability to drive process improvement and changeAgile certifications or formal Agile trainingExperience with ServiceNowKnowledge of scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe)QualificationsRelevant testing certification (e.g., Agile Testing Foundation (ATF) or equivalent)Additional InformationTravel to client offices in Leeds, London, and Exeter may be required for:Quarterly PI Planning sessionsWorkshops and key delivery milestonesOccasional overnight stays may be requiredTravel & expenses are not billable to the client Read less
